Grain harvesting and cotton care continue in Turkmenistan

On June 20, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system. The government meeting focused on the seasonal work being carried out in the agricultural sector and the current situation in the velayats (provinces), the electronic newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden Age» reported. As noted in the report by Tangryguly Atahallyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the wheat harvest is currently actively underway in the country. Appropriate measures are being taken to receive the harvested crop within a short timeframe and to ensure timely payments to the daikhans (farmers) who have fulfilled the state order. At the same time, inter-row cultivation, application of mineral fertilizers, and vegetative watering are being carried out in coordination on the cotton fields in accordance with agrotechnical requirements. Seasonal sowing operations are also ongoing. Rice is being sown in Dashoguz and Lebap velayats, while special attention is being paid to sugar beet sowing in Mary velayat. To strengthen food security and increase the production of fruit and vegetable products, necessary measures are being taken to care for the relevant crops and gather the harvested produce. After listening to the report, the Head of State emphasized the vital importance of the comprehensive development of the agricultural sector. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to organize the grain harvest at a high level, maintain control over the reception of the collected crop, ensure timely settlements with wheat producers, and guarantee the proper continuation of agrotechnical measures in the cotton fields.
