The Turkmen carpet is one of the most remarkable masterpieces of the national heritage of the Turkmen people, with roots stretching back to ancient times. One of the leading enterprises making a significant contribution to the development of Turkmen carpet art and meeting public demand for exquisite carpets is the Halach Artistic Carpet-Making Enterprise. Established in 1959, the enterprise continues to play an important role in preserving and advancing this traditional craft. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age». Since carpet weaving has long been practiced in almost every household in the Halach etrap, and mentoring traditions have been passed down from generation to generation, it was not difficult to find highly skilled craftswomen for the enterprise when it was founded. Today, modern artisans worthily continue the proud traditions of the Khalach Artistic Carpet-Making Enterprise. A clear indication of this is the fact that dozens of employees have been awarded the honorary title of «Honoured Carpet Weaver of Turkmenistan» and other state awards by Presidential decrees. The enterprise achieves impressive results every year thanks to its well-organized production process. Since the beginning of the current year, its weavers have produced 1,993 square metres of carpets and carpet products, which is 129 square metres more than during the same period last year. Production growth reached approximately 107 percent. The enterprise is also known for its continuous creative innovation. Alongside traditional carpet motifs, artisans develop new patterns reflecting the spirit of the present era, the country’s rapid development, and the ever-changing appearance of the homeland. In addition to standard-sized carpets, the enterprise produces large carpets, as well as round and trapezoid-shaped designs. It also weaves traditional horjuns (saddlebags), women’s handbags, gapylyks (carpet door hangings), and other decorative and household items.
