Mass silkworm cultivation has begun in Lebap velayat, with silkworm breeders from the Köýtendag, Döwletli, Kerki, and Halaç districts starting the work first. In the current season, they have clear targets: Köýtendag agrarians plan to produce 38 tons of cocoons from 1,042 boxes of grena, in Döwletli — 46 tons from 1,259 boxes, while in Kerki and Halaç, they are committed to delivering 85 and 97 tons of raw material, respectively. Favorable weather and sufficient rainfall contributed to the early maturation of mulberry leaves, allowing the timely activation of caterpillars and their distribution among the renters. At the same time, in other districts of the velayat, grena has already been placed in incubators, and local farms will soon enter the active phase of caring for this valuable crop. Overall, silkworm breeders in the velayat aim to produce 1,010 tons of high-quality raw material, relying on careful preliminary preparation and strict adherence to biological standards.
