Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Pays a Working Visit to the City of Arkadag

On January 31, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and Honorary Elder Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the unparalleled city of Arkadag, constructed using modern advanced technologies. Hero-Arkadag reviewed the projects of various facilities planned as part of the city's second phase of development. During his visit, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with representatives of globally renowned companies involved in the construction of buildings and infrastructure in the new city. Discussions focused on their ongoing work and the implementation of upcoming tasks. The construction of the second phase of Arkadag, initiated and driven by the dedicated efforts of Hero-Arkadag, is progressing in the early days of 2025, declared the International Year of Peace and Trust. The development adheres to contemporary standards, ensuring a comprehensive approach in designing and executing social, cultural, and industrial infrastructure projects. Early in the morning, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, arrived in Arkadag—a city that seamlessly blends cutting-edge architectural technologies with the traditions of national craftsmanship. Today, Arkadag, striving for new heights of progress, has become a hub for world-class forums and conferences, earning numerous international awards for its architectural features and commitment to environmental standards. The city’s appearance reflects Turkmenistan’s achievements, symbolizing the nation’s confident path toward dynamic development and the prosperous life of its people. Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan, D. Orazov, presented a report on sculptures to be installed at planned construction sites within the new city. As per Hero-Arkadag’s directives, significant attention is being given to landscaping the park, ensuring that decorative elements align with modern aesthetic and functional requirements. Hero-Arkadag reviewed the proposed sculptures for the city’s future park complex, making several observations and introducing necessary adjustments to enhance visitors' experience while ensuring that park decorations align with the spirit and demands of the modern era. A key priority was set to uphold strict environmental standards, considering the unique natural characteristics of the area. The ongoing construction in Arkadag must integrate modern scientific advancements with national architectural principles. Subsequently, the Distinguished Architect of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, reviewed design sketches for industrial and social infrastructure projects planned for construction and reconstruction in the city’s second phase, as well as blueprints detailing their locations. Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City, D. Orazov, and Mayor of Arkadag City, G. Mammedova, reported on the progress of projects under development and renovations, as well as joint efforts to accelerate construction. Among the presented projects were designs for bridges over mudflow channels and their barriers, a park blueprint, a project for a multi-lane bridge under reconstruction along Geoktepe Avenue, decorative construction materials, and a bus stop project. After reviewing the proposed projects and layout blueprints, Hero-Arkadag provided comments and introduced necessary adjustments, emphasizing the importance of high construction quality that meets contemporary standards. Special attention was given to the decorative aspects of the buildings. The designs for decorative elements, lighting systems, bridge railings, and other structures must fully comply with modern requirements. Hero-Arkadag underscored that ensuring the happiness of the city's residents and maintaining the quality and durability of buildings should always remain a priority. Accordingly, he issued a series of directives. The development of Arkadag City must align with its international awards and certifications. Hero-Arkadag stressed the need for continuous monitoring of the city’s infrastructure and services to ensure seamless functionality. In this regard, key priorities include accelerating the construction of the second phase, maintaining cleanliness, and enhancing urban landscaping. Hero-Arkadag instructed relevant officials to closely oversee ongoing work in the city, issuing specific directives accordingly. Later, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the heads of the city’s military and law enforcement agencies. Officials from Arkadag’s military and law enforcement structures reported on the current state of affairs in their respective agencies and efforts to successfully implement the directives of the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Updates were also provided on measures to ensure strict compliance with the law, maintain public order, regulate traffic flow, and prevent violations in the city. It was noted that local security agencies actively cooperate with relevant national structures. After listening to the reports, Hero-Arkadag expressed dissatisfaction with the level of organization in recent activities in Arkadag, noting that efforts to maintain public order were not being properly executed and that oversight of military and law enforcement personnel had weakened. He pointed out that officials responsible for law enforcement oversight had failed to fulfill their duties effectively. Additionally, the work of traffic management and other municipal services did not meet current requirements. Addressing these concerns, Hero-Arkadag instructed relevant authorities to promptly rectify deficiencies and restore order in their respective agencies. Speaking to the gathered officials, Hero-Arkadag emphasized their duty to uphold their oath of loyalty to the Motherland and serve it diligently. He warned that failure to fulfill their obligations would result in consequences, stressing accountability for maintaining order and discipline in the military and law enforcement sectors. Following this, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with executives from Korea Meditech Co. Ltd. of the Republic of Korea and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation, both of which have successfully operated in Turkmenistan for years. Hero-Arkadag highlighted the established cooperation with leading companies in the Asia-Pacific region, citing successful projects in the cities of Kiyanly and Garabogaz in the Balkan province as positive examples of bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of constructing medical facilities in Arkadag as part of the State Health Program “Saglyk” and the government’s commitment to ensuring their proper implementation. During the meeting, the head of the Korean company, which specializes in medical facility equipment and construction, reported on the company's accomplishments in Turkmenistan. Expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to participate in Arkadag’s development, the executive pledged full commitment to successfully executing entrusted projects. The head of Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation also conveyed gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and the President of Turkmenistan for their trust, assuring that all efforts would be made to optimize project implementation in coordination with the Korean company. He emphasized his satisfaction with establishing fruitful relations with Turkmenistan, recognized globally as a reliable partner. Hero-Arkadag noted Turkmenistan’s leading global position in natural gas reserves and the compliance of its gas resources with international environmental standards. He highlighted the high quality of raw materials used for pharmaceutical production. Existing production facilities for iodine-based products and licorice root medical extracts meet established ecological and quality standards and are in high demand globally, Hero-Arkadag emphasized.
