A representative of Turkmenistan took part in a meeting organized by the head of the UN Office in Geneva

On January 28, 2025, a meeting was held at the UN Office in Geneva with the participation of Tatiana Valova, the Head of the UN Office in Geneva, and the heads of the diplomatic corps and international organizations based in Geneva. The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Vepa Khadjiyev, also participated in the event. In her speech, Tatiana Valova briefly outlined the prospects for further cooperation. Noting the importance of maintaining peace and dialogue, Valova emphasized the significance of collective efforts to build trust between states and highlighted the role of multilateral diplomacy in achieving these goals. Next, David Fernandez Puyana, the Permanent Observer of the University for Peace (UPEACE) to the UN, spoke about the necessity of maintaining peace and trust. In this context, he particularly highlighted Turkmenistan's contribution to upholding these values, exemplified by the declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" by the UN General Assembly at Turkmenistan's initiative. In his speech, Vepa Khadjiyev, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, drew attention to the relevance of the theme of peace and trust. He provided a detailed overview of the activities carried out by Turkmenistan in this direction and emphasized the symbolic significance of the country marking the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality in 2025, which serves as the foundation for promoting dialogue, strengthening international cooperation, and ensuring sustainable peace. The participants of the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts to maintain peace, trust, and stability at the global level, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
