The current state and prospects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation were discussed

On January 14, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Edmondo Cirielli, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. During the meeting, the diplomats emphasized the importance of bilateral political dialogue. The prospects for developing relations between Turkmenistan and Italy in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres were reviewed. It was noted that contacts at the highest and senior levels play a key role in advancing bilateral ties. The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation within international organizations and the "Central Asia–Italy" format. Positive experiences of interaction within the framework of the United Nations were highlighted. The significance of mutual support for international initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and sustainable development was emphasized. Both sides expressed confidence in the continuation of fruitful partnership in all areas of mutual interest. On the same day, Turkmen-Italian political consultations were held. The Turkmen side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Italian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the state and prospects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation. In addition, an exchange of views took place on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The interlocutors considered the organization of joint events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust. The diplomats noted significant opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, the importance of holding meetings and forums between business representatives was underlined. The importance of strengthening interstate cooperation in the fields of archaeology, education, and culture was emphasized.
