On January 15, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a conference titled "The International Year of Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan's Cooperation with the Global Community." The event was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of specialized UN agencies in Turkmenistan, university rectors, faculty members, and students of the institute. Speakers emphasized that the peaceful policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan in the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of a Powerful State, initiated by Hero-Arkadag, enjoys well-deserved high authority worldwide. In this context, it is particularly significant that 2025 has been declared "The International Year of Peace and Trust" both globally and in Turkmenistan. It was noted that to address the objectives outlined in the year's slogan, an Organizational State Committee was established under the Presidential Decree to ensure the high-level implementation of events marking the declaration of 2025 as "The International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. Recently, the first meeting of this committee, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, took place. During the meeting, Hero-Arkadag addressed organizational issues and gave several instructions to relevant leaders. He also emphasized the importance of consulting with UN structural divisions to develop the Concept of Activities and Priorities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust and ensuring its implementation. In this regard, speakers highlighted the telephone conversation held on January 14 between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. During the conversation, both sides exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation and discussed the significance of international events planned to be held in Turkmenistan this year. As noted, during the telephone conversation, Hero-Arkadag presented the UN Secretary-General with the main directions of the respective Concept. The speakers stressed that UN Secretary-General António Guterres recognized the importance of the Concept, aimed at consolidating efforts to address pressing issues on the global agenda, and fully approved it. The floor was then given to the heads of United Nations agencies working in Turkmenistan. As noted, Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and its leadership in promoting dialogue, trust, and peace is a powerful reminder of how a country can act as a bridge and a force for good within the international community. The principles of neutrality form the foundation of preventive diplomacy, creating opportunities for mediation and conflict resolution. It was emphasized that the President of Turkmenistan's initiative to develop a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of peace and trust is one of the potential outcomes of the International Year of Peace and Trust, aimed at strengthening conflict prevention rooted in the UN Charter, the recently adopted "Pact for the Future," and other UN documents. The ambassadors noted their familiarity with Turkmenistan's Concept of Activities and Priorities for the International Year of Peace and Trust, highlighting that this document reflects Turkmenistan's views on key issues of the global agenda and underscores the neutral country's commitment to consolidating efforts of states based on mutual trust, dialogue, and responsibility.
